AI in buyer-supplier negotiation - Thesis interview
Hi! My name is Agnes Pintér, and I am a Supply Chain Management master's student at Erasmus University. I am currently conducting research for my thesis on the potential impact of integrating AI into buyer-supplier negotiations. The aim of my study is to understand the benefits/challenges and ethical implications of AI in negotiations, given that businesses are increasingly leveraging AI to gain a competitive advantage.
To gather valuable insights for my research, I am looking to conduct interviews with individuals who have either firsthand experience with AI in negotiations or who are familiar with it, since it would contribute to a deeper understanding of this topic.

This is very interesting. Personally, I don't yet know what kind of effect AI has in store for us in the future. Does it really add value to our lives. If we as buyers start using AI and the seller also uses it during negotiations. Will the result end up somewhere in the middle? Based on the current shortages of raw materials, long-term relationships seem to be becoming increasingly important. I am curious about the result of this research.
Hi Agnes, The developments regarding Artificial Intelligence are entering a new phase that is progressing faster than we had previously thought possible. With the emergence of Large Language Models, particularly GPT-4, it is becoming possible to use AI to support complex problems and issues. GPT-4 has characteristics of human intelligence and will soon play a role in supplier management. I do not foresee direct one-on-one negotiations taking place just yet. We are currently experimenting with ChatGPT, GPT-4, and technology to enable AIs to collaborate with each other, such as LangChain and AutoGPT.
